Ellen first traveled overseas at age 15 when her father insisted upon sending her on a school trip to Germany. And that’s when it happened: high atop Switzerland’s Mt. Pilatus, she was bitten by the travel bug and has never quite recovered. Since then, she has traveled to more than 15 countries on four continents. Highlights of her adventures include rafting along the Nile River in Uganda, riding camels around Egypt’s Pyramids at Giza, sea kayaking in the Adriatic Sea, watching the sunset on the island of Santorini, exploring Machu Picchu, and cycling New England’s stunning coastline. She continues to hold her father responsible for all the money she has spent on travel since that first trip to Europe.

Yes, it was beautiful. What you can’t tell from this photo is that the ice clings to only one side of the branches. Interesting!

I know I’m partial to tropical climes and have spent so little time in winter-y places… but I’ve never seen anything like that wow!!

Winter definitely has its own unique beauty. I definitely prefer warmer climates, but each year I find I am more and more amazed by the beauty of winter.

I know, we’ve had trouble finding it ourselves this year! We have to travel north and climb up to find it!

It was our first time up in winter as well. Wish we’d done it before!
