Human trafficking is not just something that happens to people overseas. It happens in all forms in all areas of the world, even if your own community. There are many great organizations out there that are working to combat human trafficking, both overseas and in the U.S. I like to work with organizations that are committed to addressing the problem from both a prevention and restoration perspective. As sexy as it sounds to give your money toward an organization that “rescues victims” of human trafficking, I would actually prefer that none of those people ever even have to go through that in the first place. I also support organizations that view those who have been trafficked as survivors, rather than victims. Below are a few of the organizations I have worked with and / or financially support myself.
Agape International Missions is a faith-based organization focusing on human trafficking prevention and restoration across Cambodia.
Uncharted International works to prevent various forms of human trafficking in Myanmar (Burma) and to help restore those who have survived it.
